Project objective:
Modernisation of open line sections, the run-through and overtaking tracks (34.11 km) of stations, restoration of 100 km/h speed and enabling 225 kN axle load. The project did not include the Berettyóújfalu - Biharkeresztes - country border line sections, previously reconstructed by MÁV Zrt. Construction of 5 ADA accessible high platforms at 55 cm above top of rail level in Báránd, Sáp, Berettyóújfalu and Biharkeresztes stations.
Installation of a modern, electronic interlocking and passenger information system, its integration to the Püspökladány Centralised Traffic Control centre with interior architectural works, dismantling of the existing point wire system. The project also involved the reconstruction of area lighting in the passenger and operational areas of upgraded stations.
Electrification was carried out in a 54.14 km long single-track line, with the establishment of a new traction substation in Berettyóújfalu, with the construction of outgoing feeders of approximately 4 km length. A catenary maintenance centre was also established in Berettyóújfalu. Together with catenary installation, a ponctual heating equipment and an equipment for the Remote Control of Catenary Power - Local Remote Control equipment was installed, which was connected to the Ebes centre for the Remote Control of Catenary Power, established in the frame of a different project. An optical fiber cable was installed on catenary poles.
