Project objective:
Strengthening interoperability is a very important aspect in the development of Trans-European corridors. GYSEV Zrt. wishes to comply with this as much as possible. Trains running across the borders without stopping or restriction can represent competitive rail transport.
Equipping the Hegyeshalom–Rajka railway line with ETCS system is a fundamental element of the criteria for ensuring interoperability and competitive transport. Without this development the competitiveness of Hungarian railways would be adversely affected.
In this context, the project involved the adjustment of D55 and ETCS L1 systems in Rajka station and the adjustment of line interlocking equipment in the Hegyeshalom–Rajka station interval. The investment also involved covering the line boom barriers with ETCS, the adjustment to the Budapest–Hegyeshalom ETCS L1 system and the installation of ETCS in the Rajka-Rusovce station interval.
