Project objective:
Electrification of the Hegyeshalom (exc.) – Csorna – Porpác railway line in order to replace diesel traction with electrified locomotives and multiple units which represents a great step forward in terms of reducing emissions and also results in shorter travel times. The D55 interlocking equipment was transformed in 10 stations.
Apart from electrification, the project was aimed at increasing the efficiency of traffic control by enabling override control of the station interlocking equipment. In addition to the main objectives of the project, the power system, the interlocking equipment, the centralised traffic control system and the remote control of overhead lines and telecommunication facilities were modernised in several stations. Platform height was raised to the 55 cm above top of rail level.
