Project objective:
The project involved the establishment of an integrated, two-level centralised traffic control on GYSEV Zrt.’s railway lines. With this development in place, the Csorna Centralised Traffic Control centre and the Szombathely Centralised Traffic Control centre provides traffic control for 35 remote controlled stations of the railway company while the Centralised Traffic Supervision centre established in Sopron is in charge of the top-level operation management of the railway network. As a result of the development, all railway stations on the main lines within the GYSEV service area were integrated into one system.
A significant advantage of the installation and centralisation of remote control is the increased transmission capacity of railway lines. It also resulted in simplified traffic control which led to reduced delays and lower risk of disturbances of rail transport.
As a result of the development, in addition to the Sopron-Szombathely-Szentgotthárd and the Győr-Sopron sections, centralised traffic control was established in the Szombathely-Csorna-Rajka and the Szombathely-Zalaszentiván lines as well.
A total of 30 visual passenger information boards were installed at GYSEV stations in the frame of the project which further improved the quality of passenger transport service offered by the railway company.
The investment enabled more efficient traffic organisation in the entire network of GYSEV Zrt., both for passenger and freight transport.
