Construction supervision activity related to the refurbishment of a listed historical building.
Project objective:
The existing spiritual building was designed by Otto Wagner, one of the greatest Architect of the wiener Jugendstil. The investment was carried out in several phases. The original wood panel ceiling was dismantled with conservation purposes for the time of refurbishment but it was reinstalled later. The restorers replaced and re-painted the coloured, ornamental plaster elements on the interior walls.
According to the new function concerts and cultural events can be held in the multi-functional space created on the ground floor.
The original, ornate Roman mosaic was re-installed on the floor and floor heating was installed underneath the flooring on the ground floor which constantly provides suitable temperature.
Both internal and external walls were refurbished but the roof structure and the electrical and water pipe systems of the building were also replaced. Characteristic features of the refurbished synagogue include traditional lighting fixtures, bright mosaic windows and spacious rooms.
The refurbishment of the building also included landscaping of inner patios with gardens, repeated water insulation of the building, modernisation of power supply, installation of high and low voltage electrical and IT management system, complete installation of the HVAC system of the building, installation of new, modern elevators and wheelchair stair lifts.
