Project objective:
Vehicle procurement, refreshing the aged tram and trolley vehicle fleet of Budapest. Advisory and construction supervision activities related to the procurement of new vehicles.
The project involved the procurement of 47 tram and 36 trolley vehicles. The new low-floor vehicles are modern with efficient energy use. The stops of the concerned lines were also refurbished, enabling accessible and modern way of travelling on these sections.
During the vehicle procurement, 47 new CAF Urbos3 model trams and 36 low-floor trolley vehicles manufactured by the Solaris–Škoda Consortium were put into traffic operation.

The new vehicles have not only lower floor level at the doors, but they are entirely low-floor. . Vehicles with the new design do not have sloping floor areas either, the entire passenger compartment has uniform level. The stops of the affected lines were also reconstructed to enable boarding the vehicles without any stairs.
The vehicle fleet modernisation project was accompanied by infrastructure development: refurbishment and construction of depots and platform construction works.
